What is the Athlete Evaluation?

The Athlete Evaluation is a ranking system that helps match athletes to the college divisions that best fit their skills. The evaluation is a six-star system organized as follows:

  • One-star: Club to junior college
  • Two-star: Least-competitive D3 or NAIA; all junior college
  • Three-star: Somewhat-competitive to competitive D3 or NAIA; least-competitive D2
  • Four-star: Mid- to most-competitive D2 or NAIA; most-competitive junior colleges; least-competitive D1
  • Five-star: Most-competitive D3; mid-competitive D1
  • Six-star: Most-competitive D1

NCSA can provide an Athlete Evaluation based on uploaded videos, or coaches can choose to evaluate their own athletes. For more information about recruiting guidelines by division, navigate to an athlete's profile, then select Athlete Evaluation and the Detailed Evaluation Guidelines button.
